David Dworkin and CONDUCTORCISE ® Hit the Summer Streets for New York City

Bedford Hills, NY, August 8, 2008 -- Instead of dancing in the streets, how about conducting in the streets? As part of New York City’s Summer Streets program, Maestro David Dworkin’s popular new fitness fusion, CONDUCTORCISE®, recently seen nationwide on NBC’s Today show, comes alive on “stage” at 51st and Park Avenue in Manhattan on three consecutive Saturdays, August 9, 16, and 23 at 11AM.

Summer Streets will close Park Avenue and connecting streets to motor vehicles, from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, to allow people to play, walk, bike, and breathe. It provides space for healthy recreation and is a part of the City's greening initiative, by encouraging New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation.

CONDUCTORCISE has traveled far and wide in live programs across America since it began just a few years ago. Called “a symphony performance, music history lesson, and aerobics workout all rolled into one” by The Times-Picayune of New Orleans, CONDUCTORCISE has excited and intrigued audiences from coast to coast. Dworkin has successfully brought his program to people of all ages, from pre-school children and teenagers to healthy seniors and those in assisted-living facilities, as well as stroke and Alzheimer’s patients. Combining the musical, educational, and aerobic, CONDUCTORCISE gets participants enthused about classical music, and keeps them engaged, thinking, and in motion. During Dworkin‘s distinguished career as a clarinetist and conductor, he has performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, Vermont Symphony, and many others, and was music director for three PBS-TV documentaries in the series Grow Old With Me: The Poetry of Aging, and for the CBS-TV production of Kurt Weill’s Three Penny Opera.

See CONDUCTORCISE on a New Jersey Television Network (NJN) feature at www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdILM5oRl9E.

See and participate in CONDUCTORCISE at the Uptown Rest Stop location at 51st Street & Park Ave between 11and 11:30AM. More information about Summer Streets is at www.nyc.gov/html/dot/summerstreets/html/home/home.shtml.
